Anybody see these signs along Laguna Canyon Rd south of the 405 for "Planning Area 18"? it’s funny, as you’re driving north from Laguna, one TIC sign says "future residential community" and not a few hundred feet away, another TIC sign says "preserved open space."
Any thoughts from the website www.pa18update.com ?  It looks like a place for some mini-mansions right at the other end of Quail Hill.

wow!  750 homes with lots of space around you, i’d rather have some of that space and less open area....  Its probably going to be a golf course though.

Wow ! 750 homes. From that map it looks like it will be located directly adjacent to part of Quail Hill. It looks like when that is built the hills will not divide Quail Hill and Laguna Hills. It looks like this community will now bring Irvine directly next to that area.

I just looked at the map carefully and the position of this new community on Laguna Canyon looks as if it’s the open space directly on the backside of Quail Hill. If you imagine driving up Laguna canyon from the 405 going towards Quail Hill there is a HUGE open space on the left that was supposed to be an Office Center years ago but was never built. That musst be the area where the homes are going to be. I could be wrong though, but it REALLY looks like the location I am talking about.

The community will be gated.  It won’t open until 2009 (or so), have only 590 residences (down from 750), and four parks.

I hope it’s less than Orchard Hills, but 590 units seems low.  Seems like a lot of effort for just 590 residences, and that’s a mix of detached condos and SFR’s.  I guess I’m used to 4000+ each at  Woodbury, portola, and OH that 590 units seems low.

what do people think of the location vs. orchard hills?  OH seems pretty quiet, while LC seems like it’s surrounded by freeways.

I think it’s like apples vs. oranges.  IMO, a comparable to LC would be Quail Hill.  Perhaps Aliso.  Comparable to OH would be something like, I dunno, Coto?
